An exciting position with McCormack Housing is available - providing housing options to individuals unable to source stable and long term accommodation. Based from Traralgon, Gippsland.

A little bit about the organisation

In 2014 the Australian Community Support Organisation’s (ACSO’s) Board created new company – McCormack Housing - to build a social housing response for people in or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. These individuals are at a higher risk of homelessness due to the additional barrier of their forensic background and poor rental histories.

Based on the supportive housing model in conjunction with ACSO, McCormack Housing will deliver housing that enables the organisation to provide safe, attainable, affordable, well maintained supported housing options to the specified client cohort.

The program and the role

In your role you will deliver housing support to ACSO clients, negotiate lease agreements, network with housing providers to source housing, and provide property management. This role would suit someone who shares a passion for human services and working within the justice system. We’re looking for someone who will bring a strong belief in humanity and the basic right each of us has, to a second chance. You will be ethical, self-motivated and committed to helping others achieve their goals.

In the role, you will:

  • Provide property management services
  • Manage lease agreements according to associated MH and ACSO programs, Residential Tenancy Act, and support agreements
  • Have experience working within the sector or transferable skills from other sectors
  • Have a strong sense of personal accountability and resilience
  • Have a Cert IV/Diploma/Bachelor level qualification in property management or social work or related discipline
  • Have the ability to obtain National Criminal Record, Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme, and Working with Children checks
