About the role

ACSO recognises that to create supportive and long-lasting programs to support people, we must include the knowledgeable voice of those with lived experience who have lived experience of the systems we provide services in.

We are looking to engage 12 people to join our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) for a 12-month tenure. Following this time there will be opportunity to become involved with our Alumni. Both opportunities aim to leverage the expertise of the people with lived experience, to enhance client engagement, program outcomes, and social change.

ACSO strongly encourages members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, LGB identifying and trans and gender diverse folks, along with member of the intersex community, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, disabled and young people to apply.

Participation in the Lived Experience Advisory Panel is voluntary; however, ACSO is committed to acknowledging the contribution of consumers and reimbursing them for their time.

What we’re looking for

  • Applicants who are 18 years of age or older
  • Confidence and ability to speak and work in groups with other people/consumers.
  • Understanding of the needs, expectations and service concerns of consumers of at least one service/program of ACSO.
  • Possess knowledge of consumer participation/advocacy or, an interest in learning.
  • A commitment to maintaining and/or enhancing the quality, appropriateness and accessibility of services/programs provided by ACSO.
  • Commitment to attend and actively participate in monthly meetings and other related meetings/events/workshops as required.

Eligibility

  • Have previously accessed a service provided by ACSO, or
  • Currently access a service provided by ACSO, or
  • Have been impacted by the systems in which ACSO provide services.
