We have the opportunity for a Forensic alcohol and other drug (AOD) assessor to join us in our RAPIDS team in the state of Victoria, based in our Richmond office. It’s our goal to reduce re-offending, and our mission is to help people transition from prison, assist them in the community, stop them from re-offending, and intervene to divert others from committing crime.

The program and the role

The Responsive Assessment, Planning, Intervention & Diversion Service (RAPIDS) was first established in 2012 with the aim of providing forensic alcohol and other drugs assessment and bridging support service to high risk forensic clients. RAPIDS forensic AOD assessors are responsible for providing expedited assessment, writing high-quality clinical forensic reports and developing treatment plans for Justice clients across Victoria. RAPIDS provides an assertive outreach service, which aims to engage with clients who are at significant risk of harm due to substance misuse and dependence. The service is available statewide and utilises Videolink technology where required to engage with regional or rural areas..

What we’re looking for?

  • Minimum of certificate IV or diploma qualification in alcohol and other drugs
  • Minimum one years’ prior experience in the AOD, mental health or forensic sector working with complex clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and conflict management skills
  • The ability to gather information through assessment, and formulate findings and recommendations utilising strong report writing skills
  • Experience working with clients with forensic backgrounds, and the ability to work in various settings, including prison environments
  • Eligibility to enter Victorian prisons
  • An extensive background working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people will be highly regarded.
