The role

The Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) will be expected to work closely with ACSO’s High Risk and Complex Needs managers and staff, to assess clients' behavioural needs, develop behavioural change programs and to evaluate the effectiveness of those programs for the person and the overall service. Behaviour Support Practitioners are responsible for overseeing the use of restrictive intervention under the Disability Act with high-risk clients in the community. BSP’s are required to complete administrative tasks, as well as face to face work with clients and their support staff. BSP’s are also involved in providing high-level clinical consultation and training to other areas of ACSO.

Here's what we're looking for:

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with and providing clinical intervention to youth and adults at risk of or in current contact with the criminal justice system
• Demonstrated experience and relevant knowledge of complex client groups, including adults with an intellectual disability, mental health, offending behaviour (including sexualised behaviours), dual disability, substance use and other behaviours of concern that place them at risk of contact with the criminal justice system
• A minimum tertiary level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Justice, Community Services and/or Welfare Studies
• Experience working within the sector or transferable skills from other sectors
• A strong sense of personal accountability and resilience
• The ability to obtain National Criminal Record and Working with Children Checks
