About the role

The Intake Worker aims to support individuals and their carers to access Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Community Support Services throughout regional Victoria. You will conduct intake assessments with individuals, over the phone and in person, for suitability and eligibility to access services in their catchment, and to make supported referrals into a service of their choosing. You will also advise and arrange appropriate wrap-around services, and provide information sessions and groups, for individuals and their families/carers as per identified needs.

What we're looking for?

• Minimum certificate IV in a health-related discipline, preferably AOD
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated skills in negotiating, assertiveness and confidence working with people who demonstrate challenging behaviours
• Experience with supporting individuals who have experienced complex problems such as substance use, mental illness, intellectual disability, homelessness, and those with a forensic background is desirable
• Ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills as well as ability to handle busy and sometimes complex situations.
