We have been doing this for 65 years and are still innovating in disability accommodation and support today. Recent growth has now created the opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our ranks in early 2019.

Job Purpose

As a Registered Nurse, you will be required to coordinate and deliver quality client nursing and support services consistent with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and Achieve Australia's policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring services are in line with current support service philosophy which promotes improvement in quality of life and fosters independence for people with a disability who have a range of functional abilities and complex needs.
  • Assisting in the coordination of individuals' lifestyles and of clinical services within resources, policies and guidelines.
  • Ensuring that day to day administrative processes are operating effectively and provide effective feedback to the Residential Unit Nurse Manager on service provision.
  • Coordinating and reviewing person centred support services that are consistent with individual/lifestyle plans; monitor and coach nursing staff with the implementation the plans' goals, expected service standards and associated complexities of the people being supported.
  • Providing staff with feedback, advice, coaching, training and support and agree on actions to improve performance, to enable them to maximise performance and meet budget targets.
  • Building work relationships with local community partnerships (including families and carers) and with other stakeholders both within and external to Achieve Australia.
  • Promoting a commitment to employment equity and diversity, workplace health and safety (WHS), risk management and ethical practices.
  • Supporting the systematic approach to implementation of new/revised policy and process through staff briefings, training, monitoring, process and protocol development, records management and stakeholder communication.

Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will be required to address the following selection criteria:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with at least two years FTE post graduate experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and disability services.
  • Confidence to critically assess and provide appropriate, effective and timely care in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS), risk management and ethical practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment including as a leader of a team.
  • Current CPR
  • Current Working with Children Check and NSW Driver's Licence (Green P2 or Full).
  • Ability to work a rotating roster in a 24 hour care facility.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in working with people with disabilities, preferably in a community setting.
  • Experience in working with people who have complex health support needs
  • Understanding of legislation relevant to supporting people with disabilities including the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014
