Fellowship Support Coordinator (voluntary)

Australian Conservation Foundation

About the ACF Fellowship

The Australian Conservation Foundation is Australia’s national environment organisation – 700,000 people creating a world where forests, rivers, people and wildlife thrive. In 2021 we are again running the ACF Fellowship program – a structured training and volunteering opportunity for emerging campaigners, community organisers and communicators.

Through the ACF Fellowship, you’ll be part of a supportive workplace where you can:

  • Learn from cutting edge campaigning, organising and communications experts;
  • Develop and apply your skills in a volunteer placement; and
  • Regularly reflect on your practice with other fellows in your cohort.

For this role, the volunteer commitment is one to two days per week from February to July 2021. You'll be supporting a team that is working on some of the most exciting environmental campaigns in Australia, like securing a green stimulus package for green jobs or getting a new generation of nature laws that actually protect the places we love.

The role could see you connecting Fellows with key figures in the environmental movement, briefing Fellows on an upcoming training session they are facilitating, leading a training session on project management and time management, and recruiting the next cohort of Fellows!

The ACF Fellowship Support Coordinator role will be offered to a candidate who demonstrates the following criteria:

  • Passion for our living world and addressing climate change, and a commitment to the values and mission of ACF.
  • Excellent communication skills and phone manner.
  • An ability to build strong rapport quickly with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and ages.
  • Group facilitation skills or experience.
  • An open, encouraging and pastoral manner that encourages Fellows to seek support.
  • Great organisation skills with a commitment to keeping records up-to-date.
  • Familiarity with technology and the ability to quickly learn new programs.
  • An understanding of what it takes to create an equitable and diverse environment movement representative of all Australians.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.

The Fellowship is suited to driven, passionate and committed people who reflect the diversity of backgrounds and experiences in our communities. If that’s you, but you’re worried you don’t have all the skills outlined in the position descriptions, please apply anyway!
