Access Community Services Limited (ACSL) is Australia's leader and specialist in settlement, employment, training and youth and social enterprises for migrants, refugees and mainstream clients, in Queensland, particularly in the South East. As a community based, not for profit organisation limited by guarantee, we boast over a 30 year history of serving our local community which was originally established in Logan in 1984. We are committed to fostering community development, youth, settlement and employment initiatives and to providing personal support programs to address the needs of disadvantaged youth and community groups including migrants, refugees, humanitarian entrants and visa holders.

Position Overview

The Executive Officer is responsible for a range of activities, both internally and externally focused. Many of these activities will be conducted through collaboration and coordination with Access' Executive Team, senior managers, staff, contractors, volunteers and sector stakeholders.

The Executive Officer will need to be a high energy all-rounder, who will make the most of opportunities and managing a demanding workload in a way that delivers timely, quality and strategic support.

We are looking for a person who can work and think as part of a team that is focused on continuous improvement and sharing of ideas. The Executive Officer will need to be a highly skilled communicator, and provide high quality research and administration support.

This is a full-time and fixed term position based in Logan Central.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide executive support to the Director responsible for Social Services and BEMAC, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders, develop reports and papers and strategy documents.
  • Developing and maintain filing and records management and ensure compliance with legislative, funding and organisational guidelines, instructions and directions including the Privacy Act and Records management.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all members of staff, and contacts internal and external to the organisation.
  • Assist in organising events, implementing programs or activities within the organisation as directed.
  • Maintain awareness of changes to relevant legislation and government policy directions, and assist in implementing any change at a program and team level.
  • Maintain awareness of the full range of organisational programs and services; support and promote as required.
  • Liaise with internal team members and contribute positively to the planning and delivery of programs.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment for participants in line with organisational workplace health & safety policy and procedures.
  • Other duties as required to meet operational needs.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a professional organisation.
  • Strong problems solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to offer direction in an objective way.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks in a high pressure environment.
  • Sound written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of culturally appropriate and sensitive services to people of CALD background.
  • Current Drivers License
  • Current QLD Paid Blue Card or ability to obtain one
  • Rights to work in Australia
