ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a volunteer Media / PR Co-ordinator to help raise the profile of The Australasian Birth Trauma Association and raise community awareness of birth-related trauma.

The Media / PR Co-ordinator is tasked with building the ABTA’s profile with key audiences in the Australian public by strategically targeting media.

They will be responsible for securing high quality earned media, particularly long-lead, magazine, podcast and lifestyle media, developing relationships with media professionals, writing press releases and briefings, generating media during peak ABTA activities.

We are looking for outstanding writing skills, a creative mind and the ability to tell powerful and moving stories via a range of mediums.

You will report to the CEO, you will find new ways to reach people and inform them about the services The ABTA has to offer. This is an incredibly rewarding job within a friendly and dedicated team. We envisage the role being 8 hours per week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Identify, set-up, monitor and optimise key target audiences for advertising across multiple media, social media and online platforms
  2. Coordinate and manage all media
  3. Provide input into planning and development of content and provide some support to production of advertising assets
  4. Test, monitor and evaluate ad performance analytics to better enhance our online impact
  5. Monitor digital trends and updates to harness cutting edge advertising technologies and techniques

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Demonstrated ability to write, pitch and place high-quality, impactful media releases and exclusives with a range of media (TV, online, print, magazines, podcasts, radio).
  2. Demonstrated experience designing public relations strategies that generate high quality features and in-depth stories.
  3. A strong understanding of how to build brand awareness through public relations activities.
  4. Experience writing and placing opinion or ‘think’ pieces.
  5. A network of warm media contacts across Australia.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills with the ability to produce high quality work to a tight deadline.

ABOUT THE AUSTRALASIAN BIRTH TRAUMA ASSOCIATION

The ABTA is the only not for profit dedicated solely to:

  • Raising community awareness of birth-related trauma.
  • Enhancing community understanding about birth-related trauma and health care, for the benefit of individuals, families and health care professionals.
  • Providing trusted peer-led support services for people affected by birth-related trauma.

At ABTA we have around 30 committed volunteers to help deliver our strategy. We are dedicated to ‘Safer Births and Better Healing’.
