Our Client, a friendly and welcoming women’s refuge, is currently recruiting for an experienced Support Worker to join their team on a contract basis to begin with.
This role will involve:
- Supporting a culturally diverse group of women and their children who have experience family and/or family violence
- Assisting clients with appointments, meal preparation and getting settled in when they arrive at the refuge and ensuring needs are client are met
- Provide parenting support and guidance where necessary
- Offer a warm and friendly service through out their time in the refuge
- Work with Case Workers to help set clients up when preparing to transition into living independently
- Liaise with local, schools and other stakeholders in a confidential manor
The requirements for this role include:
- A minimum Cert IV in Community Services/Youth/Mental Health or associated qualification
- 1 year experience of working with vulnerable people
- A good understanding of trauma
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Previous experience of working with CALD clients
- An ability to speak a second language is advantageous but not essential
- A current WWCC & Driving license
