Support Worker

Our Client, a friendly and welcoming women’s refuge, is currently recruiting for an experienced Support Worker to join their team on a contract basis to begin with.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting a culturally diverse group of women and their children who have experience family and/or family violence
  • Assisting clients with appointments, meal preparation and getting settled in when they arrive at the refuge and ensuring needs are client are met
  • Provide parenting support and guidance where necessary
  • Offer a warm and friendly service through out their time in the refuge
  • Work with Case Workers to help set clients up when preparing to transition into living independently
  • Liaise with local, schools and other stakeholders in a confidential manor

The requirements for this role include:

  • A minimum Cert IV in Community Services/Youth/Mental Health or associated qualification
  • 1 year experience of working with vulnerable people
  • A good understanding of trauma
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience of working with CALD clients
  • An ability to speak a second language is advantageous but not essential
  • A current WWCC & Driving license

Additional Information

  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
