The Role

Barnardos are looking for a permanent full-time Program Manager for the Yuranha Walan Program based in Orange, Western NSW.

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Permanent Care, the Program Manager will provide day-to-day management, support and oversight of the program operations, human resources management and administration of the Yuranha Walan Aboriginal OOHC Program based in Orange. The program supports children placed with statutory kinship and foster carers and it is the role of the Program Manager to oversee and promote safety and permanency outcomes for Aboriginal children in the program. This includes worker supervision and support, convening regular team meetings and conducting regular reviews of practice and procedures to ensure continued provision of Barnardos Australia quality services.

The Program Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the children in the program have individualised cultural support plans that are regularly reviewed as well as developing and maintaining links and connecting children with their family, culture and local Aboriginal Community.

The Candidate

This position is Aboriginal identified. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.

The successful Program Manager will ideally have:

  • Minimum Diploma/Bachelor Degree in social welfare or related human services field. Consummate experience in the OOHC field will also be considered
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years case management practice in related field
  • Experience of providing practice supervision to Case Managers on complex case management matters
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice, working with Aboriginal community and cultural diversity
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of current legislation and practices in NSW child protection and OOHC
  • High level communication skills including written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and effective strategies to redress the disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal children, their families and communities

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).

You must also have a valid NSW driver’s license and have good computer skills.

Salary

$98, 141 - $115, 056 p.a (including FBT packaging) + Super. Motor vehicle packaging available.
