About the Role

Barnardos are looking for a full-time permanent for the Family Connect & Support Worker for the Family Connect and Support (FCS) Service based at the Barnardos Centre in Lithgow, Blue Mountains. Reporting to the Team Leader FCS, the Family Connect & Support Worker will be responsible for;

  • Delivering a high standard of service to vulnerable children, young people and their families
  • Providing comprehensive assessment, engagement, short term case planning and case coordination as required with the overarching goal of identifying and referring families to relevant supports within a time frame of 16 weeks.

About You

To be successful in the Family Connect & Support Worker role, you will ideally have;

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context, including experience in undertaking comprehensive assessment
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, intake, assessment and referral of working with families in need of support services
  • Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, DV, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
  • A current driver’s license

Barnardos offers a base salary, plus leave loading, plus superannuation. Salary packaging is available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging is available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
