Our Client is a disability provider based in the Newcastle/Hunter region they have recently undergone growth and have a newly developed role for a passionate and creative Behaviour Support Practitioner.

The Behaviour Support Practitioner will conduct positive behaviour support work for people living with a disability and complex mental illness, who experience challenging behaviours, this role will require travel across East Maitland, Maitland and Cessnock but can offer flexibility with work from home days.

This role will involve:

  • You are an experienced and qualified practitioner, You will have an excellent understanding of positive behaviour support, restrictive practices, advocating for the rights of people with a disability, and writing/evaluating positive behaviour support plans.
  • establish and deliver Behaviour Support planning across the organisation.
  • Providing supervision and oversight to the team, you will enjoy stepping outside of clinical duties and enjoy diversity within your role
  • This role will play a pivotal role in contributing to service planning and assisting in the development and implementation of clinical networks, manage expectations with NSW Health and key stakeholders across all areas of operation including the Leadership Team.

The requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Masters in allied health, Occupational Therapy, psychology, mental health nursing or a related discipline.
  • AHPRA Registration/Relevant registrations
  • Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the field of disability and/or mental health.
  • Experience contributing to the strategic development of sustainable clinical and support services to meet the needs of participants affected by complex mental illness and disability.

Additional Information

  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
