Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement (ALRM) is an independent Aboriginal community-controlled organisation governed by an all-Aboriginal Board. Through the provision of legal services and associated activities, ALRM promotes legal, cultural, economic, political and social rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within South Australia.

ALRM auspices the South Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation Network (SAACCON), which is a network of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in South Australia. It was established to provide advice, recommendations, and guidance to the Coalition of Peaks (CoP), and the South Australian, Commonwealth and Local Governments on the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

The SAACCON Project Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative support to the Secretariat of SAACCON for all project and membership related tasks. This position is Part time position , 0.6 FTE.

This position primarily services the South Australia region and is in Adelaide CBD. It attracts a 10% super ,generous salary packaging options and 35 hour working week ( part time hours for this position 21 hours a week).

This part time position is offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months with possibility of further extension depending on ongoing funding. This position is subjected to successful completion of six months’ probation.

Skills and experience required for the role:

  • A commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples being self-determining and a capacity to work effectively in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrated relevant tertiary qualification or previous work experience.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and computing skills.
  • Ability to set priorities with excellent time management to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Tech-savvy with working knowledge of online meeting software (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
