Greens NSW Upper House MP Abigail Boyd is looking for a passionate, politically engaged person with digital campaigning skills to join her team in the role of Policy and Parliamentary Advisor.
We are looking for someone to help us coordinate our various campaigns and build Abigail’s profile, while developing their skills in policy and legislation.
Abigail is one of six Greens NSW MPs in the NSW Parliament, and her team consists of three Policy and Parliamentary Advisors and one part-time support staff.

As an office of a Greens NSW MP, we are bound by party policy and have a deep commitment to the party’s four pillars of social and economic justice, ecological sustainability, peace and disarmament, and grassroots participatory democracy.
Hours: 0.75-0.8 FTE, with some limited overtime and weekend work required; working days by negotiation
Remuneration: $86,957 p.a. pro rata, including an allowance of $8,968, as set out by the NSW Parliamentary Remuneration Tribunal (designated as Parliament Secretary/Research Assistant position)
Location: based at NSW Parliament in Sydney, with flexible working arrangements available by negotiation
Contract: Permanent role with 6 month probationary period
The Policy and Parliamentary Advisor is a dynamic and varied role, including (but not limited to) drafting communications materials, speechwriting, providing input into issues-based campaigning, providing policy and legislative analysis and advice, developing and managing stakeholder relationships, contributing to policy development, facilitating community organising, coordination of Abigail’s parliamentary business and undertaking research.
We are looking particularly for someone who has existing skills in digital campaigning, campaigns management, and familiarity with profile-building and media liaison.
Parliamentary and legislative experience is not required, but you should have a familiarity with progressive politics and an enthusiasm to learn more about and work in policy. In this role, political instincts and a willingness to learn are more important than any formal qualifications.
