This is a varied role for a creative communications/marketing professional to join our team. The role is flexible, 3 to 5 days per week depending on skill and availability.

Working with the Communications Manager, you will be instrumental in implementing ABCN’s communications strategy to raise the profile of ABCN and grow the impact of our work.

ABOUT ABCN:

The Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) is a not-for-profit organisation that partners schools with business to empower students from low socio-economic status backgrounds to achieve their potential in the future world of work. ABCN is made up of 44 member companies that represent a breadth of industries and include well recognised, national and global organisations. Together we share a common vision to create positive change in the community.

Our focus is to improve opportunities and outcomes for disadvantaged students. This is achieved through structured workplace programs that involve business professionals mentoring students in a corporate environment or from remote workplaces to help them develop the skills, mindsets, aspirations and connections to achieve sustainable employment long-term.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You will be assisting the Communications Manager to produce a number of core communications projects and activities. This includes:

  • Editing and production of program materials and marketing collateral
  • Coordinating production of the Annual Report and annual Member Company Reports
  • Social media content creation and analytics
  • Website content creation and analytics
  • Coordinating events, including annual Leadership Dinner and end-of-year event
  • Coordinating photography bookings and maintaining our image library
  • Creating and distributing quarterly e-newsletters
  • Distributing media releases
  • Coordinating projects related to deepening our engagement with current and former students, including surveys and story-gathering
  • Other communications-related administration

This role will provide you with opportunities to hone your marketing/communications skills, advance your career and be part of the exciting growth journey our organisation is experiencing. During last year’s COVID-19 crisis we transformed our traditional programs into digital versions, meaning we are now in a strong position to expand our reach to even more underserved communities this year.

There is scope for the right candidate to utilise their creative skills, such as photography, videography and/or graphic design, to generate content for social media and our website.

This role could suit an individual with 1 to 3 years’ experience in a communications assistant/ coordinator role, or a talented recent graduate. Salary range $50K to $60K annualised, including super, 6 weeks paid leave and tax-effective salary packaging options.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or a similar field
  • High level of written communication skills with the ability to create and edit content for a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated experience using digital and social media
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion, efficiency and accuracy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Photo editing and management skills, including experience with Photoshop
  • Graphic design skills, including basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly and supportive national team. Our Sydney office is located in the CBD. Our staff works flexibly, sometimes from home and sometimes in the office.
