Project Manager - WHO Code Taskforce - Flexible Location

Australian Breastfeeding Association

We are excited to invite applications for a Project Manager to continue the work of the WHO Code Taskforce Project. This work has already begun the work to build support and lead multisectoral efforts in a campaign to enshrine the provisions of the World Health Organisation’s International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (“the Code”) into Australian law.

Adopting the full provisions of the Code into national legislation can reduce the unethical marketing of breastmilk substitutes and provide structural support for breastfeeding. It is an important way to ensure that mums and their support people receive evidence-based information about the options for feeding their babies.

The Project Manager - WHO Code Taskforce will help lead the development and implementation of advocacy initiatives to advance ABA’s policy agenda on the adoption of the provisions of the Code into Australian legislation. This will involve both building a volunteer movement within ABA and working with the campaign steering group to coordinate with allies on aligned strategy.

The position can be based anywhere in Australia, though Canberra or Melbourne would be preferred. The position is 0.4FTE at the annual salary range of $84,854-$88,693 p.a plus superannuation. Salary packaging is available. The maximum term contract is through to June 30 2023, with an opportunity for an ongoing appointment subject to available funding and performance.
