About the Role:

Develop and deliver the Australian Breastfeeding Association's (ABA) multi-channel communications and engagement activities, supporting Australia's mums (and their families) with evidence-led information and connection, throughout their breastfeeding journey and beyond.

Leading communications with Australia's parents, you will work across the organisation to promote and strengthen engagement with ABA’s integrated services including; breastfeeding education, the National Breastfeeding Helpline, LiveChat, mum2mum app and membership/ support packages.

As a valued team member, you will work alongside communications, advocacy, graphic design and health promotion professionals, collaborating with ABA’s incredible volunteers and state-based branch staff.

The role has responsibility for content planning/ strategy for ABA’s strong social media presence, supporting our volunteer social media team. It also spearheads the content creation and delivery of our valued member electronic newsletters to our health professional, business and parent audiences – building upon our strengthening engagement metrics.

With an eye for detail and well-developed copywriting skills, this role will collaboratively develop and deliver multi-channel engagement, fundraising and communications campaigns. It will support ABA’s re-ignited media activity, coordinating our national media spokespeople, with the assistance of local PR officers to bring media opportunities to life.

Work with a beautiful, realigned brand toolkit and reimagined website (to launch in June 2022), to produce graphic design elements and layouts using freshly developed templates. Support the internal and broader communication needs of this purpose-led, evidence-driven organisation.

About you:

You’re a persuasive and adaptable writer who relishes the variety of working across numerous channels and audiences. With tertiary communications in Communications (or an associated discipline), you’re quick to learn technical content, to adopt house styles and to employ nuanced language choices within your work.

You’re passionate about women’s health and the wellbeing of families. You are inspired to help more mums to get the best evidence-led information as they transition into, and journey through parenthood, so that they may achieve and be supported around their personal breastfeeding goals.

With at least several years of communications or engagement expertise, you possess an enthusiastic, approachable, yet confident manner. You delight in helping others to unlock the value of considered messaging and communications. A collaborative and inclusive mindset will aid you in supporting the volunteer teams engaged in the social and traditional media workstreams of ABA’s Growth & Engagement Team and the Association more broadly.

You’re a natural planner, with strong attention to detail and a well-developed ability to calmly manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.

Since 1964 the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) has been supporting mothers and caregivers who want to breastfeed their babies. With the help of around 1000 volunteers, ABA provides evidence-based information and support to 500,000+ mums and their families annually, while raising awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and human milk for child and maternal health.

ABA runs Australia’s National Breastfeeding Helpline, Breastfeeding Education Classes, the Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace (BFW) program and around 130 local support groups. ABA is a not-for-profit, Registered Training Organisation and delivers seminars and education for health professionals. ABA is Australia’s leading provider of breastfeeding information.
