Located in Glenside, South Australia the National Work Health and Safety Advisor will develop and maintain the infrastructure for Dementia Australia’s enterprise wide environmental and work health safety management systems around Australia. The National WHS Advisor will promote a culture of safe work practices and will provide information, guidance and expert advisory services across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the National Quality and Governance Manager, you will also be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining documentation and reporting related to client and workplace injuries, incidents, hazards identification, feedback and complaints.
  • Providing education and support for environmental and WHS activities including emergency response, business continuity, safety audits, risk identification and disaster recovery.
  • Administering and maintaining day to day management of reporting pathways, risk management software tools and databases and assisting with the development and administration of WHS content on the intranet and through staff communication channels.
  • Working with organisational leaders and employees to provide support, advice and maintenance around injury management, incident assessment and investigation and appropriate return to work activities.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement activities across the team, including corrective action activities and health and wellbeing initiatives.

To be successful in this role you will be a team player, have excellent interpersonal communication skills and meet the key selection criteria outlined below.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated practical application of WHS principles and relevant legislation nationally, with a demonstrated understanding of enterprise implications preferably within the Not-for-Profit sector
  2. Experience in database management and provision of succinct strategic reporting and advice, based upon strong statistical analysis
  3. Experience in compliance activities and reporting as well as development and delivery of supporting material
  4. Demonstrated computer literacy, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point and strong relevant CMS / database experience
  5. Commitment to the provision of high-quality service delivery through high level interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications and demonstrated equivalent experience in environmental and work health and safety or a similar discipline
