We are seeking a Diversity and Inclusion Officer to join our Client Services team based in Hawthorn, VIC. In this role you will engage with the community through a community development and capacity building framework, promoting and delivering dementia and service information and awareness; and education to diverse groups.

Reporting to the Manager Client Services, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining relationships within the community, with service providers, agencies and community groups, with a focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Working collaboratively and co-operatively within the Client Services team and across the broader organisation to ensure integrated, responsive service development, project management and evaluation
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for flexible service provision to groups with particular needs, including but not limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities, people from Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Intersex or Queer communities, those from rural/remote communities, those living with younger onset dementia and those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Participating in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives which includes benchmarking content against evidence based practice and current body of knowledge

To be successful in this role you will show an absolute commitment to the delivery of high quality dementia services, be a true team player and meet the key selection criteria as outlined below.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Ability to understand, respect the needs of and practice sensitive, inclusive approaches with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in the development and delivery of education programs, resource development and interactive learning for people who are from diverse groups
  • Experience in providing community awareness and information, and supporting community capacity building, including demonstrated capacity to deliver high quality presentations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; telephone, face to face and written both formal and informal.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing on-going relationships and effectively collaborating with a wide variety of community groups and individuals to achieve practical and sustainable mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Willingness to travel around Vic or further afield as the position requires
