An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, committed and highly skilled Educational Support Teacher to join our dedicated team delivering AAFRO’s Women’s Words program, supporting at least 15 African mothers and their Children within the western suburbs.

The Women Words Digital Inclusion Teacher will be expected to work one day per week for 5 to 7 hours from the first week of June until the end of November 2022 as part of a trial program.

Responsibilities:

The role involves

  • Teaching CALD Women predominantly from African backgrounds, with the aim of strengthening their computer skills, such use of keyboards, writing and sending emails, creating folders, using MS Word and Excel, organising virtual meetings/catchups with others online (eg. through Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet etc); searching and applying for jobs, accessing online services and more. A second stage would assist with English language, cover letter and resume writing.
  • Facilitating group class sessions designed to improve participants computers skills/ English language reading and writing.
  • Assisting with immediate and ongoing support needs of individual participants throughout the provision of their learning.
  • Keeping accurate, professional, and timely records of sessions and participants’ progress.
