About the Role

  • Full time (35 hour work week)
  • Permanent ongoing role
  • Some flexible working options available
  • Based in Penrith with some local travel required during work hours in the Greater Sydney area

The purpose of this role is to drive a whole of service system approach to deliver person centred outcomes, with a primary focus on the Aboriginal communities in the areas that Link Wentworth operate. Using a case management framework, you will assess tenants' support needs, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals, develop case plans, and refer to services to sustain tenancies and increase tenant health and wellbeing.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Working with Aboriginal tenants from a trauma informed, strengths-based perspective, acknowledging the impact of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities
  • Conducting psychosocial assessments of tenants' needs to develop responses to address tenancy issues and underlying issues that may affect their tenancy
  • Working with tenants to develop risk mitigation behaviours that will help them to adjust to changes and challenges in their lives in partnership with support providers
  • Identifying and assessing suitability of external service providers with focus on providing culturally appropriate referrals for Aboriginal tenants, and embedding these relationships
  • Developing and enhancing the relationship between Link Wentworth Housing and Aboriginal communities in Northern Sydney, Western Sydney, and the Nepean-Blue Mountains areas

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be of Aboriginal descent and identify as Aboriginal*
  • Have a tertiary or vocational qualification in community services, case management, social work, or similar discipline, or equivalent relevant social services experience
  • Demonstrated experience or understanding of the social housing sector and the customers who seek or live in social housing
  • Experience in the development and implementation of case plans and working with highly vulnerable people with complex needs and challenging circumstances
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cultural competence in delivering services
  • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to liaise with a number of stakeholders including tenants from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with identified support agencies and community services
  • Empathy and compassion for others who face disadvantage

You will also need:

  • A current driver’s licence valid in the state of NSW
  • At least two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations, meaning, having received the primary course of an Australian Government approved COVID-19 vaccination
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check to Link Wentworth's satisfaction
