Multiple Complex Needs Worker

We Help Ourselves (WHOS®) is one of the premier alcohol and other drugs (AOD) NGO treatment providers in Australia. We offer a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic and support programs and services to benefit clients with problematic substance use and associated issues.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated person to join our dynamic Day Program team based at the WHOS Hub Penrith.

The person that secures this new and exciting role would need to have an advanced understanding of a variety of health and human service practice approaches, and experience in supporting clients that have complex multiple needs across a variety of domains (including: mental health, disability, age, homelessness, unemployment, family violence, ethnic background, and sexual orientation).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualifications in AOD, community services, health, allied health, human services, or related field.
  • Experience working with people with AOD and mental health conditions.
  • Experience in the assessment, referral and case management of clients with multiple complex needs.
  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction approaches with AOD target groups.
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate and develop referral pathways with allied services.
  • Advanced case management skills.
  • Effective liaison, communication and networking development skills.
  • Knowledge of local GP networks (Nepean Blue Mountains region), and ability to provide support for GPs as required (including under shared care arrangements).
  • Ability to support clients within a shared care framework.
  • Current drivers’ licence.


  • Experience working in day and or community-based programs.
  • Experience facilitating groups.
  • Experience working collaboratively with health care and allied health services.
  • Knowledge of AOD, health and community services in the Nepean Blue Mountains region.

The role requires a person with experience in:

Information management systems including electronic client file and data management.

Strong administration and written communication skills and report writing.


  • SCHADSI Award Level 4 (pay point negotiated based on qualifications and experience).
  • Salary packaging available.

Please note: this position is offered on a fixed term contract basis to 30 June 2022. Extension dependant on continuation of funding.
