Beecroft House is a housing project providing transitional housing and support to women aged over 55 at risk of homelessness. It has capacity to house up to 18 women. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • RESPONSIBLE TO: WCS Head of Housing 
  • Responsible for: No staff management, responsible for working with volunteers
  • Position grade: SACS Award level 2.1 (Crisis Accommodation Employee)
  • Hours: 20 hours per week
  • Contract: part-time fixed term contract to December 2023                    

Key duties

  • Support the effective functioning of Beecroft House; 
  • Provide tailored client-centred casework to support individual residents of Beecroft House;
  • Work in partnership with Link Wentworth Housing to support tenancy related issues and identify housing pathways; and
  • Plan and coordinate delivery of a wellbeing program at Beecroft House, including coordination of volunteers to provide community, education and wellbeing activities on site. 

Required

Essential Criteria:

  • prior demonstrated experience working in the community services sector in a support/case worker capacity, preferably providing support to women;  
  • tertiary qualification in community services, social work, community development or equivalent experience;
  • demonstrated experience in planning and delivering community programs;
  • sophisticated understanding of the homelessness and housing pathways systems;
  • knowledge around current issues and best practice in the area of domestic and family violence;
  • excellent problem solving skills;
  • excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills;
  • experience using online case management systems.  
  • Police check
  • current recognised first aid qualification (such as a certificate from the St John Ambulance or similar body);
  • immunisation requirements: it is a condition of employment for this role for the incumbent to be, and to remain during employment, vaccinated against COVID-19; and
  • current unrestricted Australian drivers’ licence.

Desirable criteria:

  • Local to Hornsby Area. 
  • Experience working with women over 55. 
  • Understanding of program evaluation and outcomes measurement principles.  
  • Experience using CIMS.
