The Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC) is looking for people who want to make a difference.

We are seeking to employ a Project Organiser on a short-term contract (until December 2020) to work in our Carlton office. The Project Organiser will be working on a project to support more women to take up and complete apprenticeships and traineeships in male-dominated industries such as manufacturing and construction. The Organiser will be responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting women to take up apprenticeships and traineeships in these key industries.

Duties Include

  • Identifying and recruiting women to participate in project
  • Work with training providers and employers to secure placements
  • Attend government and union meetings, and prepare reports as needed
  • Conduct interviews with project participants and prepare case studies
  • Provide administrative support as needed

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working as part of a small team
  • Ability to work to a tight timeframe
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of vocational education in Victoria
  • Ability to set priorities when faced with competing demands
  • Current valid driver’s licence and
  • A commitment to social justice and trade union principles

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience working for trade unions and/or related industrial bodies
  • Knowledge of vocational education system in Victoria or experience working with government
  • University qualification or equivalent in research methodology
  • Alternatively, personal or professional life experience working in male-dominated industries

Salary

The position is based at Trades Hall in Carlton, Victoria. Attractive salary package including a monthly RDO and 12% superannuation.
