  • Salary: $90-95k (plus super) per annum pro rata dependant on relevant experience

Supporting the CEO of Stand Up, the GM - Programs & Engagement will be responsible for managing staff and programming across VIC and NSW, engaging with the Jewish community broadly, particularly in NSW and VIC, and developing new and existing partnerships within the Jewish community and with wider community organisations. The GM - Programs and Engagement will also make a strategic contribution to the organisation, providing a frank and robust sounding board for the CEO.

A key part of this role will be to implement our strategic plan in NSW in consultation with the NSW and ACT Jewish Communal Appeal (JCA).

Key responsibilities

This role is responsible for:

  • Staff and program management
    • KPI management and review
    • Weekly staff and program meetings
    • Staff timetable management
    • Volunteer management
  • Strategic management
    • Implementation of strategic operations plan
    • Impact framework data collection in line with Stand Up’s theory of change
    • Implementation of strategic vision in accordance with JCA requirements in NSW
  • Community engagement - Jewish community
    • Enhancing Stand Up’s reputation and recognition within the Jewish community
    • Building formal partnerships with identified Jewish community organisations in NSW
  • Community engagement - wider community
    • Identifying appropriate organisations for potential strategic partnerships
    • Formalising partnerships with community organisations to grow Stand Up’s impact.



  • The GM - Programs and Engagement will have a well-rounded commercial and business development skill set.
  • Previous staff management experience.
  • Highly organised and detail-focused with a strong strategic orientation
  • Ability to toggle between details and a broader strategic outlook
  • Engaging communication style: the ability to inspire new individuals and organisations to support the Stand Up vision
  • Strong sense of social justice and empathy, and alignment with Stand Up’s values and ethics
  • Ability to generate, articulate and debate initiatives in a robust but respectful manner
  • Ability to manage staff in a respectful and collaborative manner
  • Proven experience in meeting set KPIs for yourself and staff under your management


  • Previous experience in a coordination, management or governance within an NFP
  • Previous experience in formal partnership development and maintenance
  • Experience, understanding of and engagement with the Jewish community
  • Knowledge management experience e.g. design, development and implementation of databases

  • Patience and tolerance for other perspectives
  • An appreciation for the historical and contemporary Jewish thought on chessed, tzedakah and tikkun olam.
