Purpose of position

To provide leadership in supporting the participants of Sharing Places to achieve personal goals by moving towards their full potential for self determination and inclusion as valued members of the community.

Functions and responsibilities

  • Work under general direction to ensure that the service provided is conducted in accordance with Sharing Places’ Vision Statement and Policy and Procedures, all relevant legislative requirements, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and associated rules and regulations;
  • use initiative and exercise judgement to ensure that the needs of the participants and staff are appropriately addressed and result in the best possible outcomes;
  • apply a high level of specialised knowledge and skill to develop and implement planning, assessment and management processes for participants, including individual program plans and meetings, behaviour management plans, daily activity/programmes plans and assessment processes;
  • maintain a budget with budgetary constraints;
  • as a team leader, supervise allocated staff in all aspects of work performance, which includes conducting performance appraisals, creating opportunities for skills development, and offering counselling and support as required;
  • use a high level of written and verbal communication skills to maintain accurate records, prepare reports, conduct meetings and liaise effectively with staff, parents and significant others;
  • maintain a professional standard of work performance and update knowledge and skills by actively participating in personal, professional and service development;
  • undertake other duties and special projects as required, within the scope of the position.

Selection Criteria

  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the NDIS Act 2013 and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of planning and assessment supported by a broad range of experience in the provision of services to adults with high and complex support needs.
  • A high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high standard of organisational, delegation and leadership skills; and the ability to work within a team.
  • A sounds knowledge of community resources/facilities in the Canberra region, and the ability to seek opportunities for community inclusion.
  • Proven skills in IT systems and experience working with Microsoft Office.
  • Current driver’s license and First Aid Certificate, and the ability to perform manual lifting requirements.
