The Company

SecondBite is one of Australia’s largest food rescue organisations. We rescue quality fresh nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and distribute it free of charge to charities and people in need.

The Position

We are looking to fill two positions: 1 x full time Driver and 1 x casual Driver for collections/deliveries operating from our Penrith warehouse. Shifts will be worked from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and deliver produce as per instructions from the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Ensure all requirements of the food safety legislation are abided by at all times
  • Implement optimal collection arrangements in line with the collection schedule
  • Drive the SecondBite vehicle and carrying out collections including loading and unloading the vehicle and providing assistance in the warehouse as required
  • Liaise with food donors to maximise the potential effectiveness of the program
  • Complete reports as requested for all collections
  • Adhere to all SecondBite OH&S policies and manual handling standards
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and maintained at all times
  • Perform warehouse and/or food sorting activities as required
  • Perform duties in accordance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety Acts, Regulations, Codes of practice and SecondBite policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate commitment to occupational health and safety
  • Immediately report and act on any accidents and hazards
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of your skills and experience, as directed by Warehouse Supervisor or State Operations Manager

Qualifications & Experience (Key Selection Criteria):

  • A current unrestricted Driver’s License (MINIMUM REQUIREMENT)
  • MR Truck License (Desirable)
  • A current Forklift License (Desirable)
  • Experience in deliveries and food safety will be favourably regarded
  • Empathetic approach to the issues surrounding nutritional poverty and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards
  • A basic data entry skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Strong team player
  • Good customer service skills which can help develop positive relationships with donors
