Council’s award-winning Cooling the City Strategy and initiatives have established Penrith City Council as a leader in addressing and managing the impacts of urban heat. The Greening Our City Grants Program has provided an opportunity for Council to create a cooler, greener more liveable city through the planting of over 5,000 trees in parks and suburban streets, in areas of low canopy cover and where residents are more vulnerable to heat.
To coordinate and deliver Council's community engagement component of our Cooling the City Project, we are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong communication and stakeholder management skills to join our Sustainability and Resilience team in the position of Engagement Officer - Cooling the City for a period up to 12 months.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a project communication plan with the support of the Sustainability and Resilience team, engaging directly with the community, including residents and schools through various communication platforms and community activities, and liaising with internal stakeholders to deliver an engagement program around the project and the benefits of trees in greening and cooling our City. The position will be required to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver this work.
Commencing Salary: $73,342.00 per annum, plus 10% Superannuation.
