About us

Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (NBAC) is an ever expanding organisation with a strong focus on making a change for the Aboriginal community.

NBAC provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the Western Sydney/Nepean Blue Mountains as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for NBAC. The position is based at one of our Penrith offices within the Western Sydney area.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • The role will ensure high quality supervision and facilitation of visits for children and young people in foster care with their family. You must ensure that it occurs in a child-focused manner with a priority on safe and positive contact arrangements that assists families to care for children and build strong relationships between all present.

  • We work a 35 hour week. Which means you are flexible with your working hours and work a 7 hour day between 8am – 6pm with a 30 minute lunch break. This could mean you start at 9:30am and finish at 5pm or start at 9am and finish at 4:30pm!

Qualifications & experience

  • Aboriginality
  • Valid NSW Driver’s license
  • Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check
  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Qualifications in Community Services or experience in a relevant field.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience of knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable, although not essential.
  • Experience in working in partnership with Community Services and other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection
  • Varied professional and general life experience.
  • Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.
