The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 143 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). ACCHOs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally. As an act of self-determination, these services attend to all matters affecting health and wellbeing spanning transformative community empowerment through to individual health treatments and continuity of care.

NACCHO’s work is focused on supporting the work of ACCHOs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people overall through negotiating and advocating with Governments on health care policies and programs and systems reform. These issues range in variety from chronic disease management, preventative health strategies, telehealth, listing of Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) to the social determinants of health.

NACCHO’s partnerships with organisations including: The Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP), Royal College of Physicians, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia greatly contributes to significantly to enhancing health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About the role:

As a key member of the Finance and Corporate Team, the Senior Finance Manager will report to the General Manager, Finance and Corporate and assume a strategic role in the overall financial management of NACCHO. In addition to managing the Finance Team, the Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities.

NACCHO is seeking a motivated individual who has:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, including ability to interpret and apply these as relevant in financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to inspire, lead and manage a team which delivers quality outcomes for the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and willingness to take a hands-on approach to ensure that NACCHO finances are managed in accordance with all relevant legislation.
  • High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively negotiate and facilitate outcomes with a wide range of people.
  • High level of written communication skills to present information in a clear and concise manner for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply resilience and adaptability, including flexibility to respond appropriately and provide advice in an evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a knowledge and understanding of their cultures.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and membership of professional organisation, e.g. CPA Australia

Experience:

  • Several years’ experience as a Senior Finance Manager in a medium-sized organisation
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in working with the public sector and not for profit organisations

Clearances:

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Clearance.
