Mackay Conservation Group is looking for an experienced person to help build our Urannah Dam campaign. Your role will be to organise community opposition to the plan to dam the Urannah & Massey Creeks in Central Queensland. We need someone with voluntary or paid experience in campaigning who can help us inform the public about the proposal and organise effective opposition.

About Mackay Conservation Group

Mackay Conservation Group was established in 1984 and is the lead environmental organisation in the Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday region. We have campaigned for protection of woodlands, rainforests, oceans and our rivers for more than 35 years. In 2022 we will be working on two campaigns: preventing pollution caused by burning coal and maintaining and restoring the rivers that flow to the Great Barrier Reef.

Mackay Conservation Group is located a beautiful part of the world. The Great Barrier Reef is to our east and the tropical rainforests of Eungella to our west. The Whitsunday Islands are in the northern part of our region. If built, the Urannah Dam will destroy the most pristine watercourses in Central Queensland and will push significant species towards extinction.
