Integrated Family and Youth Service (IFYS Limited) meets the needs of some of the most vulnerable young people in the child protection sector. IFYS provides residential homes across Queensland. These homes provide programs to support young people in the care of the Queensland State Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to fill the role of Residential Care Coordinator in one of our Ipswich Residential care programs.

The Residential Care Coordinator plays an integral role in providing quality residential care and life skill support to young people aged between 12 to 17 years of age, based on a therapeutic and trauma informed model of care. Reporting to the Residential Care Manager, this position will actively lead and supervise our dedicated team of Therapeutic Case Workers. This role ensures high quality service delivery in line with the recognised standards of care whilst meeting the operational and administrative requirements of the program.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide and maintain a safe, therapeutic and homely environment for young people to grow and learn
  • Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate individual and group activities consistent with meeting the young people's needs and goals in line with Case Plans
  • Support and manage young people's behaviour in line with Action Behaviour Support Plans in a consistent and calm manner
  • The timely and accurate completion of administrative duties, including legislative reporting
  • The setting of rosters, supervision and development of staff and the recruitment and induction of new staff
  • Ensure adherence to licensing and HSQF standards
  • Effectively collaborate with stakeholders and form community connections

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in child protection
  • Resilience, flexibility and an innovative way of approaching complex situations
  • Proven leadership skills and well developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • A passion for working with young people
  • Strong understanding of trauma and its impact on the development and behaviour of children and young people
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a partnership approach with colleagues, the community and other agencies in all aspects of work
  • High level of written, verbal and computer-based communication skills, including the use of data and case management reporting portals
  • Understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999
  • Experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities is highly desired
