  • $74,936 to $78,883 per annum, depending on experience

The role

The Environment Centre (NT) is looking for an experienced, creative and energetic communications and engagement officer who can work closely with the Co-Directors to develop ECNT’s external profile and network of influence as the peak environmental body of the Northern Territory. The role will drive the promotion of ECNT across all its work areas, including campaigns, and will lead on public communications and media strategies that galvanise broad scale support for ECNT’s campaigns and strategic vision of a future where nature thrives.

In particular, the successful applicant will:

  1. Develop and implement in collaboration with the Co-Directors ECNT’s communications and engagement strategy;
  2. Develop and implement in collaboration with relevant ECNT staff,  ECNT’s communications and engagement strategy for its campaigns across different strategic themes.
  3. Develop effective and supporter-centric communications about ECNT work and campaigns;
  4. Update and maintain ECNT’s website;
  5. Develop and distribute ECNT content around its work and campaigns for media, provide media support for direct actions, and develop and maintain media relations;
  6. Develop and deliver digital strategies and creative content via direct message and social media;
  7. Organise and support ECNT’s external events.

Selection criteria

  1. Knowledge and understanding of the media advocacy needs of a campaigning organisation generally, and for social and political change generally;
  2. In depth knowledge of the local and national media;
  3. Deep understanding of framing narrative and persuasive communications theory;
  4. Strong level of knowledge and understand of climate impacts, solutions and how to impact those in an impactful way;
  5. Strong level of knowledge and understanding of how to use research, insights and analysis to develop communications strategies;
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the media;
  7. Demonstrated writing and editing skills;
  8. A commitment to kindness, compassion and collaboration in teamwork and conflict resolution.
  9. A valid driver’s licence.
  10. A working with children check.
  11. A willingness and flexibility to travel regionally.

Terms

The job is a full time with a 12-month contract, with an aim to extend longer with continued funding. 

Salary: $74,936 to $78,883 per annum, depending on experience. Plus 10% superannuation and 5 weeks annual leave
