Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre (DBNC) is looking for an experienced Case Manager to work in our employment and training team. As a member of the Orbital Works team, you’ll be working in a dedicated small team, using strengths-based case management model, to support individuals to gain Certificate III qualifications and to assist them in becoming job ready, leading to employment.
DBNC supports our community by providing direct support and community programs to individuals, families and children as well as job preparation, information and referrals. We collaborate and co-create with other organisations and community members to catalyse locally-led change to address disadvantage and to achieve sustainable, effective outcomes to make Deception Bay an even better place to live and work.
About this role
Based in Deception Bay, the Orbital Works program is funded by the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative. Orbital Works aims to intensively engage people who are long term unemployed and who reside in the local Deception Bay community and surrounds. DBNC offers tailored support and assistance to disadvantaged people to gain nationally recognised skills and qualifications including a mix of career advice, job preparation skills, foundation skills and individual case management.
As a Case Manager you will:
- Promote and develop a human services/job preparation program for an allocated case load (approximately 30-50) comprising long term unemployed or under-unemployed people form the local community.
- Strive to meet the identified needs, offering tailored support and assistance to disadvantaged people to gain nationally recognised skills and qualifications including a mix of career advice, job preparation skills, foundation skills and individual case management.
- Provide one on one support to assist participants to increase their employment opportunities and to develop new skills.
- Increase the capacity of eligible individuals to enhance their potential to experience positive outcomes in either job readiness and/or in gaining employment.
- Undertake an initial assessment of strengths and needs and make referrals that successfully link them to appropriate networks.
- Use wrap around services to support participants to overcome barriers and achieve their personal goals.
- You will develop and manage relationships with the local community and relevant stakeholders to improve outcomes for Orbital participants.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant human services field and/or two or more years’ experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated skills and experience working as a case manager, or with demonstrable transferable skills.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively in a professional team environment, delivering outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse range of people, including from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Current Queensland Driver’s License.
- Be eligible for a Blue Card.
