Circle Green Community Legal is the only not-for-profit service in WA offering specialist, state-wide legal advice, further assistance, representation, advocacy, community legal education, referrals, outreach and support, in tenancy, employment, humanitarian and family and domestic violence related to visa problems.
As a specialist legal centre for tenants we are dedicated to protecting the rights to housing for all tenants. We provide advice to tenants through our Telephone Advice Service, as well as further support and advocacy through our duty advocacy program at the Magistrates Court. As the Central Resource Unit, we also provide support and professional development to tenant advocates across WA.
We are seeking an energetic, confident individual who enjoys a challenge and is interested in making a difference to the lives of the people we work with. This is an exciting opportunity to be working in a unique specialist community legal centre.
The ideal candidate will be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and eligible to hold an unrestricted WA practicing certificate. Experience in supervising junior staff (including restricted practitioners) will be highly regarded.
As a solicitor (unrestricted) you will primarily be required to provide comprehensive legal advice by phone. While opportunities to provide further assistance, representation, community legal education and training, and drafting law reform submissions under the guidance of the Managing Solicitor will also be available. You will also be involved in the direct supervision and training of solicitors (restricted), tenant advocates, graduates and volunteers.
