About Us

CIS Yarra Ranges, a branch of Community Information and Support Victoria, provides a free information & referral service on topics such as housing, health, personal isssues, families, education and much more. Referrals are made to appropriate government or community services and other not-for-profit organisations. CIS Yarra Ranges also provides emergency relief and support to people experiencing financial hardship.

The office is staffed by a skilled team of volunteers who provide a confidential service in a caring and compassionate manner.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Branch Coordinator responsible for overseeing and directing the provision of high quality services at CIS Yarra Ranges. The role will encompass both operational and staff management, and effective leadership supporting CISVic’s strategic plan and core values.

This is a short-term contract working 12 hours per week until June 30th 2021.

Key Tasks:

  • Effectively manage, lead and support staff consisting of a paid Community Support Worker (contracted until April) and a team of volunteers.
  • Ensure open and effective systems of communication between staff and volunteers and a culture that encourages the following: valuing of contributions and quality; commitment to the organisation’s mission, values and goals; collaborative team work within and across programs.
  • Ensure the effective management of CIS Yarra Ranges’ emergency relief budget, ensuring efficient & effective financial systems are in place, seeking resources, monitoring progress and taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Liaison with funding body Yarra Ranges Council.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships and partnerships.
  • Promote and advocate on behalf of CIS Yarra Ranges in a positive and appropriate manner.
  • Identify and seek additional funding opportunities to support the work of the service.
  • Work with staff, other service providers, peak bodies and government to develop strategies to address the needs of people who utilise CIS Yarra Range’ss services.
  • Provision of regular reports, data, advice and issue papers to the Executive Officer as required.
  • Contribution to the general day to day running of the branch and any ad hoc tasks as required.

This position is offered under the SCHADS Award (2010) and paid at Level 5.1.

About You

To be considered applicants will be required to hold a tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work (or in another relevant discipline) and have some professional experience working in a leadership role.

Additionally, our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in direct service delivery in the community sector.
  • Demonstrate effective organisational and management skills including interpersonal communication and written skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to social justice and community development principles including a sensitivity to and/or experience in working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Have experience in working with volunteer workers and demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of services by volunteer workers.
  • Have the ability to identify, develop, manage and evaluate agency goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate sound submission writing and financial management skills.
  • Be familiar with community organisations and services, current needs and awareness of government policies and processes.
  • Possess well-developed computer literacy and technical skills.
