Marie Stopes Australia is on a quest to find a numbers-nerd and sexual and reproductive health economics enthusiast. You're independent and analytical, data driven and not afraid to share your ideas. You're a big picture thinker who doesn't miss the little details. Your idea of a good time is watching a Ted talk on data visualisation and reading articles about Australia's public health system and ways it could be improved. You may even get a bit too vocal with the telly during Q&A because people just aren't backing up their arguments with robust enough evidence.

You're looking for a role where you can make an impact to the lives of women and pregnant people across Australia, where your work and recommendations will be welcomed and will endure for the decade to come. Something that has more meaning than just showing up from 9 to 5. You want the opportunity to tell a story with your data, and for it to make a difference.

As our Senior Health Economist you would be taking existing data and using it to build models, extrapolating on what's currently available. You would help guide us to where we need to be. Advising us on what services we need to be providing, and where, when and how best to do this - with a view to support abortion and contraception access for all those living in Australia.

What we want you to do:

  • Design and execute research projects
  • Build accurate models and analyse cost/benefit
  • Pro-actively identify market access opportunities
  • Develop evidence-based business cases that enhance sustainability, profitability and access equity (i.e. reproductive justice)
  • Evaluate current and proposed service agreements
  • Provide insight and advice on the best models of care and service delivery
  • Help to build strong evidence base for grant and funding proposals
  • Work with key stakeholders across the organisation
  • Effectively deploy resources, people and systems in order to build the data sets required to deliver on commercial and funding objectives.

What we need:

  • Pro-choice advocate
  • Willing and helpful approach, excellent planner and time-manager
  • Able to manage multiple research projects concurrently to deadlines
  • Excellent analytical mind and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment, navigating and negotiating competing priorities
  • High level of personal accountability for deadlines and outcomes
  • Master of Health Economics, Public Health or equivalent.
  • 5 years demonstrable mid-to-senior level experience in a Health Economics, Health Services or Policy Research or related role, required.
  • Experience and interest in sexual and reproductive health, data, research and policy desirable.

What we're offering:

  • Attractive salary packaging
  • Supportive and friendly team
  • Corporate Traveller discounts
  • Rewards Gateway - access discounts on everything from movies to groceries and electronics
  • The chance to help an organisation with a transformative purpose, to provide: Your choice, no matter what.
