The Opportunity

The Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC Inc) ensures the quality of the veterinary profession in Australia and New Zealand.

This new position (time fraction to be negotiated) is an addition to the current seven-member staff team, assisting in the delivery of AVBC’s accreditation processes for veterinary schools accredited by the AVBC.

The role helps support the AVBC standing committee, the Veterinary Schools Accreditation Advisory Committee (VSAAC). VSAAC advises on all matters relating to the accreditation of veterinary schools including but not limited to the establishment and maintenance of education standards, the conduct of accreditation visits, comment on trends in veterinary education and accreditation protocols and monitoring of the performance of Australian and New Zealand veterinary schools’ graduates in their early professional career.

You will foster continuous improvement and responsiveness in collaboration with your staff colleagues who set high standards for themselves and list values such as transparency, compassion, fairness, reliability and “combining our individual strengths into super-charged resourcefulness”.

The AVBC’s small staff team operates out of an office in Melbourne’s CBD, evolving towards a “new normal” post-COVID work pattern.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assisting with the delivery or projects and initiatives related to implementation of the new AVBC Accreditation standards
  • Facilitating the design and implementation of a new AVBC online repository for accreditation purposes
  • Assisting with the organisation, documentation and conduct of accreditation site visits
  • Organisation of meetings for both internal and external stakeholders including the preparation of agenda, meeting papers, minutes and reports
  • Research, analysis and drafting of papers to facilitate strategic delivery of VSAAC responsibilities

To succeed in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated workplace experience. You will have excellent communication skills, a proven ability to deliver and manage projects on time and a willingness to work in a small team environment, with a flexible approach to task sharing. You will be committed to self-development and improvement and be known for your high degree of personal integrity.
