<h3>THE OPPORTUNITY</h3>

<p>The Tangentyere Safe House (Ndarndarinjika Safe Houses) provides short term crisis accommodation for Aboriginal children between the ages of 0-12 years old, including respite care. Working from a child centred approach the aim of the program is to ensure that young people are supported therapeutically through the safe provision of a physically, emotionally, and culturally appropriate family environment. The program recognises continued connection to family and culture as integral to a child&rsquo;s identity and has cultural safety as a fundamental principle of its service provision.</p>
<p>This position is responsible for the day-to-day support for Aboriginal children in our care, the primary focus of this role is to ensure the children are supported through a physically, emotionally, and culturally safe family environment.</p>
<p>Safe House Carers work on a roster system within a home care setting and are required to attend to all aspects of the house whilst on duty with a primary focus on the care and supervision of all children residing in our houses.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Maintain high standards of care, supervision, and protection to young people by providing a safe and consistent living environment in the Safe House.</li>
<li>Identify and attend to the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of young people living in the Safe House.</li>
<li>Maintain program documentation and client confidentiality in accordance with Tangentyere Council&rsquo;s policy and procedures.</li>

<h3>Qualifications and Selection Criteria</h3>
<p><em>Required</em></p>
<ul>
<li>A person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.</li>
<li>Experience working with Aboriginal people including children.</li>
<li>Good communication skills &ndash; both written and oral.</li>
<li>Capacity to work outside normal business hours and willingness to work over night shifts and/or weekends, attend meetings and relevant training.</li>
<li>Current NT Drivers Licence, Working with Children&rsquo;s (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of up-to-date vaccination against COVID19.</li>
</ul>
<p><em>Desired</em></p>
<ul>
<li>Working knowledge of Aboriginal Language/s.</li>
<li>An understanding of the social justice issues facing Aboriginal People and the role of the Tangentyere Council programs in addressing these issues.</li>

<h3>THE OPPORTUNITY</h3>
<p>The Community Centres Division provides innovative, unique, place-based programs support Aboriginal children (0-5 years), school age children (6-12 years), youth (12-18 years), families and kin to achieve positive outcomes in community safety, education and wellbeing.</p>
<p>The Service Connector position is part of a dynamic team working with Town Camps that uses client-centred, community-led approaches to respond to client identified needs by facilitating links and referrals to a broad range of internal and external programs and service providers.</p>
<p>The Service Connector role is a new role as part of the Child Family Centre (CFC) initiative. The CFC Program will support the delivery of services to children, young people, and families to assist them to navigate local service system to make sure their needs are met. The Centres will assist families to access a range of support services and programs designed to strengthen family and community capacity in achieving outcomes in overall wellbeing, equity of opportunity and improved outcomes.</p>
<h3>The objectives of the Child Family Centres are:</h3>
<ul>
<li>To assist and support local families experiencing risk of vulnerability to address their needs</li>
<li>To strengthen community leadership and capacity to support families to raise children, and</li>
<li>To put in place strong, sustainable, and accountable systems for improving child and family wellbeing.</li>
</ul>
<p>Tangentyere&rsquo;s CFC model locates 5 specialist family and service connection staff in hubs at existing Community Centres in a &lsquo;Hub and Spoke Model&rdquo;. The &lsquo;hub&rdquo; is Tangentyere&rsquo;s Community Centre Division, and the spokes are the Community Centres located at Hidden Valley, Larapinta Valley, Trucking Yards, Walripiri/Charles Creek, and Karnte/Little Sisters Town Camps. This model ensures staff are supported to work in teams that can rapidly respond to individual and community needs, and link families to support services by helping them navigate the local service system.</p>
<p>This role will be located in the Northern Camps and will work in close collaboration with and under the guidance of the Northern Camps Community Centre Coordinator.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills who is committed to working with vulnerable families and children. Additionally, they will engage with stakeholders and community members to promote the program, ensuring it is culturally safe, accepted by and responsive to individuals, families, and communities across the Alice Springs region.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Provide a place-based point of contact for Town Campers to learn about and access internal, and external services and programs.</li>
<li>Work directly with individuals, families, and kin build relations and to link them to support services and programs whilst adhering to privacy and confidentiality responsibilities.</li>
<li>Bring an understanding of local contexts to internal and external stakeholders to help them address the needs of individuals, families, and kin.</li>
<li>Together with clients and service user groups monitor service delivery to address individuals, families and kin needs and suggest adjusted approaches where necessary to ensure progress is being made.</li>
<li>In consultation with Town Camp residents and the Community Centre Team provide access for service deliverers to deliver in Community Centres, as per identified need.</li>
<li>Provide feedback on and advice to Community Centre Coordinator, the Division Manager on any implementation issues/problems.</li>
<li>Documentation, record keeping, data entry and reporting as required.</li>
<li>Other duties as required.</li>
<li>Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications and Selection Criteria</h3>
<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Community Development, Social Work, Health or a relevant discipline</li>
<li>A demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people</li>
<li>A commitment to community led practice, human rights, self-determination, and cultural safety in practice</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering programs</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in building and harnessing internal and external partnerships.</li>
<li>Demonstrated strong communication skills &ndash; verbal, written, computer literacy and ability to use electronic databases.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as to work with independence and autonomy</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills.</li>

<h3>THE OPPORTUNITY</h3>
<p>Tangentyere Constructions delivers Property Management and Trade Repairs and Maintenance Works on the Alice Springs Town Camps and 22 Remote Communities.</p>
<p>Building Practitioners will be allocated by the General Manager to work on projects under the supervision of the Property Management Team Leader or one of the Constructions Supervisors.</p>
<p>The work of the Building Practitioner can include either Repairs and Maintenance including inspection, assessment, and completion of minor repairs under the direction of the Property Management Team Leader; or Building and Construction under the direction of Constructions Supervisors.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Provide a first response for any tenants requiring repairs and maintenance work on their house.
<ul>
<li>Inspect the house to identify and assess required repairs and maintenance.</li>
<li>Undertake repairs and maintenance.</li>
<li>Report work that requires trade qualified repairs and maintenance to the Team Leader.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Undertake building work under the direction of the Constructions Supervisor.</li>
<li>Contribute to the project management of subcontractors.</li>
<li>Record, document and photograph all requests, work undertaken, and material used.</li>
<li>Observe and maintain Occupational Health and Safety.</li>
<li>Other duties as required.</li>
<li>Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications and Selection Criteria</h3>

<ul>
<li>Demonstrated work experience in the building and construction industry.</li>
<li>Relevant Vocational Educational Training qualifications.</li>
<li>Good spoken, written communication and computer skills.</li>

<li>Ability to work respectfully in an intercultural environment with tenants, co-workers, and subcontractors.</li>
