The Opportunity to be a Changemaker

World Vision Australia (WVA) is looking for an experienced major gift fundraiser to join the national philanthropy team. This position is a wonderful opportunity for a passionate fundraiser to build and grow major giving in Perth - Western Australia - that supports the world's most vulnerable children.

As Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for all stages/steps of the major gift solicitation process for donors and prospects in your portfolio.

This role is responsible for achieving financial and non-financial targets by building a pipeline of High Net-Worth (HNW) donor opportunities through the implementation of best practice major gift relationship fundraising. This will be achieved through engaging and talking to donors about WVA projects, impact and the use of donor funds, providing an outstanding experience for our supporters, and working collaboratively with them and the field teams to fund WVA field programming.

The role is also responsible for representing WVA at events, stewarding of HNW supporters and managing relationships with trusts and foundations to deliver a high level of relationship management and supporter experience.

In addition to the above, the Relationship Manager (WA) is responsible for:

  • Business Development – To acquire and build, over a period of 2-3 years, a mature portfolio of major donors based in WA who support WVA at a major gift level.
  • Using your existing connections, alongside existing key connections held by WVA, to grow WVA’s presence and reputation in the HNWI and philanthropic communities in Perth and WA
  • Working with WA based Board members and key staff to build a corpus of highly engaged, generous major donors.

To achieve this, the successful candidate will work strategically with the National Manager, Philanthropy to write great strategy, build quality relationships and open key networks.

Who we are looking for

The successful applicant will possess the following experience, knowledge and key capabilities:

  • At least ten years of experience in major donor fundraising, with demonstrated success in engaging with major donors for fundraising in not-for-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated relationship building and relationship management skills, including the ability to inspire supporters, and the ability to identify, initiate and sustain new relationships, work collaboratively, and promote cooperation with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong knowledge of Perth and WA, and strong existing networks;
  • Proven track record of generating significant gifts from high net worth individuals;
  • Experience and expertise in developing relationships with major donors and crafting major donor strategies to secure results;
  • Proficiency with donor/customer databases for analysis and reporting;
  • Strong customer-centric approach and experience in developing and implementing communication plans for key customers/supporters;
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional structure;
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

What you need to know

This role is a permanent position operating in a part-time capacity (3 days/week) and will be based at our state office in Perth, Western Australia.
