An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced General Manager within an international Not-for-Profit organisation as it expands the reach of its home-share solution for refugees and people seeking asylum across Australia. Our passion and hard work have established this organisation’s footprint, your skills and experience will guide it through the next stage of growth. This Pro Bono role can be an opportunity as a career highlight for the right person. In the short time Refugees Welcome Australia (“RWA”) has been established it has partnered with other community service organisations to offer hosted accommodation for individuals who are undergoing assessment for permanent status in Australia. You will work with a peer group who are passionate about what they do and the overall business purpose.

The key responsibilities of this role:

As a key executive within this organisation, you will be responsible for developing a vision and leading the way forward. While a background in the NFP sector would be viewed as favourable, it is not essential, but we would seek a background in a service organisation or commercial enterprise as a minimum requirement. The expectation of this pro bono role will be around 1 to 2 days per week with the following responsibilities;

  • Develop proposals for RWA board and external partnerships
  • Develop a strategic plan for partnerships and fundraising
  • Collaborate with state leaders on how RWA will deliver current & future objectives
  • The capacity to enforce governance requirements to control risks to the organisation that fall within the realm of RWA business services

About you:

You will be an experienced General Manager who understands the value of building a collaborative culture and one who can apply your considerable skills to a business structure that allows this organisation to achieve managed growth nationally. You will be a highly motivated and driven professional who sees this as an opportunity to develop and mentor the state leaders to ensure the viability of RWA’s future.

  • Be an advocate for human rights
  • Relevant qualifications in Business or Commerce, backed with proven experience in a similar role
  • Strategic thinker and experienced influencer
  • High ethical standards and personal values
  • Advanced literacy and analytical skills
  • Previous leadership experience within an NFP or service orientated organisation
  • Experience working at an executive level with a board and external partnerships
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Dynamic, pragmatic and results-oriented
