About the Corporation

Banjima Native Title Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (BNTAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) that holds native title on trust for the Banjima People.

The Banjima native title determination area covers a large area of land and waters in the east Pilbara region of Western Australia.

As well as their roles and responsibilities as a PBC, BNTAC's objectives also include to provide relief for disadvantaged Aboriginal people, maintain and support traditions, laws, language and culture of Banjima people, as well as provide economic, social and cultural benefits, including housing, training and education.

About the Role

The Chief Executive Officer leads strategy development and implementation while overseeing and assisting the implementation of BNTAC’s strategic plan by leading and managing business objectives, polices, programs, standards and targets.

The CEO must maintain an awareness of opportunities for Banjima members, industry developments, and external pressures and threats with the aim of increasing cultural, social and economic outcomes for BNTAC and its Members. Provide leadership to the organisation in the management of human, legal, financial, technical, funding and marketing resources on behalf of the BNTAC Board of Directors, within established strategic plans, policies and procedures. 

Skills and Experience

Previous experience as a CEO or in a Senior Management role, successfully balancing strategic development and implementation with clear, measured outcomes.

Ability to work with Aboriginal people in a culturally appropriate way, displaying excellent communication skills and a high level of cross-cultural competency.

Understanding of the Native Title Act and how to strategically leverage determined rights and interests for social, environmental and economic opportunities for native title holders.

Essential Criteria:

  • MBA or other relevant qualifications
  • Experience in establishing community based service delivery organisations
  • Understanding of the responsibilities of BNTAC as the PBC and LAC
  • Relevant skills for managing external agreements, contracts and relationships
  • Understanding of land management
  • Ability to build and manage a geographically dispersed team
  • Deep commitment to building the capacity of Aboriginal People, in particular the Banjima People
  • Commitment to the role of the CEO in advising and servicing the board
  • Willingness to travel across Regional WA areas.
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation and with aboriginal people
  • Current Drivers Licence.
