If you’re experienced in minor repairs and maintenance of homes and have a passion for helping people, then we have an exciting full time opportunity for you until June 2020! Our Home Maintenance Officer plays an important role by assisting in ensuring the safety and security of homes of the elderly and disabled within the Stonnington municipality.

As a Home Maintenance Officer, you’ll undertake routine repairs, maintenance tasks and install safety aids and equipment in the homes of eligible, frail aged clients and clients with disabilities. Additionally you will provide professional advice and appropriate information to clients requiring access to tradespersons, specific specialist advice and work collaboratively with occupational therapists. This is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking a rewarding career utilising their interpersonal and maintenance skills.

To be successful in this role, you will be motivated and enthusiastic, bringing high levels of energy and commitment to the job. Additionally you will need strong communication skills to build positive working relationships and gain the cooperation and confidence of older people, people with disabilities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Previous experience in performing routine repairs, maintenance activities and the safe use and maintenance of tools including power tools is essential.

As an employee of the City of Stonnington, you will diversify your experience in a leading inner city Council and have access to some fantastic benefits. You will be able to participate in staff wellbeing programs, previously nominated as a finalist both in the VicHealth and WorkSafe awards, as well as receive annual leave loading, a monthly accrued day off, work for an organisation with a dedicated Green Team and be recognised and rewarded through Stonnington’s cultural development program.
