About Now To Launch

Now to Launch is an incubator for the food business ideas of refugees, new migrants and people seeking asylum. Building on their existing skills and experiences, we provide the tools, resources and networks necessary to launch their ideas to market. Now to Launch is a project by Free to Feed, a Melbourne-based social enterprise championing people who have sought refuge and asylum in Australia.

Many refugees, new migrants and people seeking asylum must overcome great challenges before facing the usual hurdles that the average citizen encounters while trying to start a business. Now to Launch harnesses community expertise and knowledge to help overcome these hurdles. Volunteers, like you, can play a part in opening doors with your skills, time or business know-how.

Why you want to volunteer with Now To Launch

Now to Launch is building a team of skilled professionals to lead the creation of a positive, helpful environment for refugees and new migrants, to pave their futures in Australia through the creation of their own food business ventures. This is an opportunity to use your expertise and experience, network with like-minded professionals, and exercise your creativity and influence.

You will shape the direction and development of our entrepreneurs in their food business endeavours in your Group (see attachment for info about Groups). You will also work with Now to Launch’s committed, passionate, diverse team to have a direct impact on the lives and businesses of our entrepreneurs.

About the role

This is an exciting role for you to use your love of working with people and your knowledge to help refugees and new migrants. You will use your industry expertise and experience to deliberate on, and determine, the best course of action to address the needs of our budding entrepreneurs.

  • collaborate with other skilled professionals in your industry to facilitate, discuss, and agree to decisions on the capacity and resources needed for our entrepreneurs’ success
  • work closely with our Program Officer to provide advice, make decisions on the delivery of capacity, and provide general industry knowledge
  • attend bi-monthly meetings with other Group Leaders
  • have the opportunity to build relationships with community professionals, and contribute to the Now to Launch program and entrepreneurs’ development through your contribution of time and expertise.

Your experience

To be considered for this role, you must be/have the following:

  • At least 4 years of knowledge and/or experience in one or more of our Group areas.
  • A strong problem-solver and innovator with a drive to succeed.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to show judgment and flexibility.
