Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.

The Role

A full time permanent Case Manager is required for the PSP Family Preservation Program with Barnardos South Coast based in the Illawarra (Warrawong office).

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Case Manager will provide casework services to children 0-16 years, and their families. The program aims to deliver wrap around supports to children and families to prevent unnecessary entry into Out of Home Care.

The Candidate

The successful Case Manager will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare related discipline.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of child development theory and assessment of parenting capacity.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice, how this is delivered, and the effects trauma can have on child development and family functioning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the drivers of children into out of home care.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context and knowledge of current child protection legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with families in need of support services.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with families in the context of high levels of complexity and child safety concerns

Additional info

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).

You will also need to have a valid driver’s license and the ability to assist with a rotating roster for telephone support for families within the program.

Salary

$71 345 - $86 937 base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super. Motor Vehicle packaging optional.
