The Role

Barnardos are looking for a full-time permanent Case Manager for the Yuranha Walan Aboriginal Out of Home Care Program based in Orange, Western NSW.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Case Manager will deliver a high quality Aboriginal Out of Home care service to Aboriginal children and young people placed in statutory out of home care. The Case Manager will provide best practice case management with a focus on embracing Aboriginal worldviews, listening to the child/young person, connecting the child/young person to their family, community and culture, and strengthening their identity.

The Candidate

This position is Aboriginal identified. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.

The successful Case Manager will ideally have:

  • Proven aptitude in human services field, preferably child and family services and an ability to relate this to the area of out of home care
  • Experience in out of home care or in a similar field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and effective strategies to redress the disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal children, their families and communities
  • Experience in and or awareness of the issues for a child/ren entering out of home care and the factors that contribute to children entering out of home care.
  • Ability to translate attachment and trauma theory into practical everyday advice/interventions in order to support children and carers.
  • Written skills appropriate for maintenance of administrative requirements, casework notes and report writing

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).

You must also have an unrestricted full NSW driver’s license and use of own car (if choosing not to package a vehicle with salary), and the ability to be on call.

Salary

$71 345 - $82, 514 base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super. Motor Vehicle packaging is optional.
