jobactive is one of the programs offered by yourtown, and operates nationally working with marginalised young people up to 30 years of age. Everything we do is focused on sustainable employment outcomes for young people in a strengths based and outcome focused business model.

As the Employment Youth Worker, you will work with young people in pre-employment and group based activities as well as post placement mentoring. Using a client centred strengths based case management model you will help participants overcome non vocational challenges to employment with the aim of assisting them to gain and sustain employment. This can include crisis intervention, advocating for participants; referral for specialist assistance, developing individual case plans and employment case management, as well as assistance with practical supports.

Due to funding requirements of this role you must have a Degree or Graduate Diploma in Allied Health Services or Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Counselling or other Allied Health degree qualification and demonstrated experience in the provision of case work services for highly disadvantaged young people. If your qualification relates to a field that requires professional registration to practice, you must be registered with the appropriate authority. You will have proven ability to build rapport with and motivate young people and an in depth understanding of the local labour market, challenges to employment and underlying issues faced by disadvantaged young people.
