The Practice

NT PHN are partnering with Darwin Children's Clinic to find a General Practitioner, with an interest in Paediatrics, to join their newly established passionate team. Being a new concept in children's healthcare, Darwin Children's Clinic aims to become a clinic providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for all children regardless of age or medical issues under one roof.

The Role

The general practitioner will be part of a multidisciplinary team incorporating GP's, specialist paediatricians and allied health professionals, to work collaboratively together to co-manage complex paediatric patients and support their families.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with general practitioners and other health professionals to provide high quality therapeutic care
  • Examine paediatric patients to evaluate their growth and development
  • Evaluate patients to diagnose injuries, illnesses, and developmental problems
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to gather medical information and reach a diagnosis
  • Prescribe or administer treatments, such as medications, vaccinations, and other therapies
  • Gather and document patient's medical histories
  • Advise patients and their families on proper diet, exercise, and disease prevention and treatment
  • Discuss procedures and test results with patients and their families or guardians
  • Track patient's conditions over time and adjust treatment as needed
  • Document diagnoses and medical impressions for record-keeping and billing purposes
  • Refer patients to paediatric specialists as needed

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below Essential Criteria:

  • Only applicants with full working rights within Australia will be considered (Australian Citizen or Permanent Residents) and fellow of RACGP required
  • Current Resume with two contactable references
  • Vocationally registered with AHPRA as a general practitioner
  • Fellow of RACGP
  • Experienced in Paediatric medicine
  • Be excellent at developing long lasting relationships
  • Have patience and a sense of humour
  • Have advanced problem solving abilities 
  • Have excellent communication skills and strong active listening skills
  • Have strong attention to detail, critical thinking and reasoning
  • Experienced in working within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Professional Indemnity insurance
  • Current Police clearance or willingness to obtain
  • Ochre Card (Working with Children) or willingness to obtain

Desirable Criteria:

  • Diploma in Child Health

The Location: The Top End
