United Voice is one of Western Australia's largest unions, representing workers in a wide range of industries including, Health, Aged Care, Cleaning, Security, Hospitality, Education and Early Childhood Education and Care.

Organisers work as part of a team to grow and strengthen membership, develop workplace delegates and build activism and leadership amongst Union members.

The role of Union Organiser involves work with members, workplace delegates and leaders to plan and implement campaigns that build the strength of the Union and deliver good industrial outcomes.

The main responsibilities of Organisers are:

  • Delivering a structured organising conversation in order to recruit, move members to action and articulate union vision/values;
  • Recruiting new members;
  • Creating and working to organising plans;
  • Identifying and developing workplace delegates;
  • Building active and sustainable organising structures;
  • Working with member leaders to mobilise members to take collective action;
  • Educating members about the link between government and organising/bargaining outcomes:
  • Support Delegates and Members in resolving workplace;
  • Member queries on entitlements and workplace matters;
  • Represent and assist members and delegates in workplace issues.

To be successful you will have:

  • An understanding of how the Union works;
  • A demonstrated commitment to union values and social justice;
  • The ability to motivate and educate union members and potential members;
  • The ability to participate in the union’s social justice agenda;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • A valid Driver’s Licence;
  • The ability to work flexible arrangements.
